bowin_in_illinois
Yes to all four. One of the reasons my wife said she married me was I did those things. ...I just showed her the respect she deserves.
Gator
Is chivalry dead? Answer these: 1. Do you open doors for women, even total strangers? 2. Do you offer to carry heavy items for a woman, even if you don't know her? 3. Do you open the car door for your wife? Girlfriend? 4. Do you stop when you see a woman on the side of the road with a flat tire? Just wondering. Trying to teach my boys these things even at this age. What's your thoughts? Yes No Sometimes Haven't had that scenario, but when I did, I was always on my way somewhere, and time was always of the essence
Guest Andrea
1. If you can not open doors by yourself, maybe you should stay home. 2. If you can not lift it, then you should not have bought it. 3. See number 1 4. If you can not change a flat, maybe you should not drive. Exceptions can and will be made, but, overall I see no reason to treat the women in the world any different than men. Equal pay for equal work and all that. Women have manipulated men for thousands of years and men fall for their wiles every time. The cuter and curvier the woman. the dumber us men get. Many a man has fallen victim to a wink or gesture. Which brings me to a question for the women reading this; Have you ladies ever used the power of cleavage to get, or try to get, your way? Hmmmmmmmm..............do I detect some hostility here? Been burned more than once maybe?? We can't help it if you guys lose brain cells because we might be somewhat appealing to your sense of sight. And to answer your question..............NO. And don't worry, if you ever pass me on the road and I have a flat, don't bother. I know how to change it. Thanks. (Somethin my Daddy taught me.) rhine16
1. Yes for anyone that is close to me, and anyone that is about to come through a door i will 2. My girlfriend, my mom, my grandmother, my girlfriend's mom, etc. or an older woman 3. Most always(Depends on how bad of a mood she has put me in ) 4. I havent ever, but i would if i saw someone that i should do it for me. Just never know what you're gonna find when you do that.
Guest outdoorgirl
See what you started Andrea I tend to help the older people out in times of need. I will go out of my way to make sure the elderly are taken care of male or female.

Do you stop when you see a woman on the side of the road with a flat tire? YES, I just make sure I'm packin' in case it's a scam! I think I've seen one too many 20/20 reports, lol. There are too many people out there looking to hurt you, so I have to say I probably wouldn't stop, but I would call for assistance
Jeramie
1. Do you open doors for women, even total strangers?[\quote] Every time. I even do the same for elevators. 2. Do you offer to carry heavy items for a woman, even if you don't know her?[\quote] Not often but honestly, how often do you see a woman carrying something heavy? I did ask another employee yesterday if I could carry something for her but rarely do you get that chance. 3. Do you open the car door for your wife? Girlfriend?Every time. However the car door is something else. I do that roughly 25% of the time. 4. Do you stop when you see a woman on the side of the road with a flat tire?[\quote] Depends on the situation. Traffic and other factors can offer real danger. In those cases I immediatley call a HP. Just wondering. Trying to teach my boys these things even at this age. What's your thoughts? Every boy should be taught this stuff immediatley. Another you never hear of is that a man NEVER shakes a womans hand unless she offers it first. It so forgotten that I sometimes get an odd look from women thinking im being rude.

Great point Elkoholic...especially in your last sentence!!! I also noticed some hostility from others in here because of what you said. When the tables are turned, it's a different story,LOL! I don't know if I would have been so "Frank" in numbers 1 through 4 but your paragraph was perfect!
elkoholic
There is no hostility on my part and I really hope that is not how everyone perceived my post. I do not believe in special treatment for women, or any other group of people. Able bodied people should be very capable of opening a door for themselves, etc. If you have your hands full, I've got you covered. I grew up in a family where the women carried their share of the load. Help those who truly need help not those who expect it. Burnt? Strangely enough, only by those (men and women) who truly needed help, but did not appreciate it.

JimT
Most of the time to the top three, and always to the flat tire one. I am not going to run to a door to open it, but if I am there. I was a "gentleman" a few years ago. Was in line at a fast food joint with my buddy and noticed the womans hood in front of us was popped up. So I got out and shut it for her. She was very gratefull, and when we got up to the window she had paid for our breakfast. Only probably was I brought mine that day and did not order anything. Bummer. My buddy made out well though....
slugshooter
I've done the first three and continue to do so, I have never done #4 because 1) The only time I have seen that was in Michigan when I was a truck driver and you can't really pull an 18 wheeler to a complete stop in time for it to matter, and 2) In this day in age, I would be worried she would pull a gun or pepper spray me because she thought I was going to harm her, either that or she wanted to mug me.
