razortec_hunter
idk if there has already been a topic started about this but when u guys are in the tree stand with your bow hanging right next to u what do u do while u are waiting on a deer??? i can say from experience that YES it can get boring sitting for 6 hours straight not seeing any deer. so what would be something i could do that wouldn't fall out of the tree????? and not a book cuz i want something i can stuff in my pocket quickly if i have to maybe a gameboy or something? Squirrelhunter91
A gameboy would work but even that can take away awareness. I personally like to catch some z's while in the tree. Of course I always have my harness on, otherwise I wouldn't be sleeping!! Something that kept me entertained was the magnets on my gloves. They are actually mittens one way and the mitten part folds back and stays back because of two magnets. When it is folded back, the gloves are half fingers. But anyway, the reverse polarity of the magnets on both gloves kept me entertained for more than a few stand sits. LOL

Guest bow_hunter101
I never thought I'd admit this, but I too sometimes text when I'm in my stand lol Also I'm not much of a reader at all (Cabelas, Buckmaster, and Field&Stream is about it!) but I found this book a year or two ago and it's a good way to kill some time in the stand. It's called "A Look At Life From A Deer Stand" by Steve Chapman. It's a good book to read when your hunting. http://www.amazon.com/Look-Life-Deer-Stand-Hunting/dp/1565078640
Master_Chief
I do nothing in my stand that takes my attention away from my surroundings. I am constantly estimating yardage, watching squirrels/birds, looking through the binocs for new rubs/scrapes. I guess being I don't get much time in the stand I hesitate to take up that time doing things other than what I am up there for.

BearClaw
I just sit and watch and listen. That book, A Look at Life from a Deer Stand is an excellent book! Really give you time to relect on life. Just when I might be distracted doing something, a deer would come along and catch me off guard. My alarm goes off at 3:25AM, I don't get up that early to get busted! I just stay alert, sure it gets boring when you don't seen anything for awhile but all it takes is the snap off a twig and the game is on!! Turkeygirl
I just take it all in...sitting out there in God's creation. I almost always have my bow sitting on my lap. I watch the wildlife...I think about life and God...I imagine what I'll do if a deer comes in.
deer_slayer08
I usually just sit in the sit and wait, But sometimes I think what I am going to do when that big buck comes under my stand.
Guest antlerhead
I Just Try To Enjoy The Day Out In The Woods And Guess Yardages. And Envisioning That Big Buck Coming Into View And What Im Going To Do About It. Sometimes When You Let Your Guard Down It Can Cost You Big Time. You Will Then Be Kicken Yourself In The Behind For Not Staying Alert.
