Wolves

Hey guys I dont know what its like in the states that you hunt but here in wisconsin the DNR reintroduced wolves to the state some years back and everyone that I have talked to says that they are just reeking havoc on the deer population in the north. Many people end up seeing more wolves than deer during the course of a season. What are ya'lls thoughts on states bring back wolves epescially in places with high hunting numbers?

LOL....when i was at nmu (Marquette MI) me and my friends hunted all over for birds and deer and we saw and heard the same thing....too many wolves.....I'm sure u have heard the big joke about the three S's of wolf controle....(Shoot it, Shovel it, and Shut up)...I dont belive in that but i do think that a better look needs to be taken at the wolf population up in this area.

We have the same problem in the UP of michigan. The last time I hunted up there near Ralph we didn't see many deer. Ran into the local DNR officer in the diner, he said the deer population is down from around 30 or 40 deer per square mile to less than 10!! He said that the wolves eat most of the fawns in the spring, and as many as they can the rest of the year.

There is talk of taking the wolves off the endagered list and opening some type of hunting season on them to control the population. I have read that out west the wolves have reaked havoc on the elk and deer in many areas. They breed like crazy and have no predator to control them. I never understood why we needed them back in michigan.

I hate the DNR for lying about wolves more than the wolves themselves. Telling everyone for years there were only a few in the state.

Not sure what the DNR game plan is with wolves.....seems like they just want to reduce the deer herd numbers.

Seems like the only people who have anything positive to say about wolves are people who don't have any in their area.

SSS is a great policy....problem is, you never see them.

We've got a pile of wolves in this area. They're native to our area though, and we're allowed to shoot them depending on the township. In my area as long as the township I'm hunting doesn't border Algonquin Provincial Park, you can shoot them. We killed a few last year that came flying out to us on deer drives.
