TreeStandBowHunter
Who has had the ol' snipper doodle done? (my wife calls it that...I know, it sounds lame:D). I looked into it several years ago but held off for two reasons. One, I wanted to make sure it was what we both wanted and two, I was just a llllliiitttllleee bit worried about having the procedure done. I am going in Wednesday for the consult AGAIN but this time I am doing it. We are both in our 30's and we have two children. We knew for the last 5-6 years that we were done with kids. So I am not looking for advice on whether I should have it done or not. I am just looking for some of your expeirences if you have had it done. BTW, remember that kids look at these posts so if you go into too much detail, just PM me, ok:D Women need not apply! This is a MAN thing!!! Master_Chief
Had it done 19 years ago when our 2nd child was 2. No problems, issues. If it was done then with little problems, as far as medical has come in 2 decades I think you will be fine.

wtnhunt
Never had it done, we have talked about it though. Funny how everytime this subject comes up I seem to remember this funny story about a member here who let his father in law do the snip snip procedure in his veterinary clinic:eek:

Newarcher
Oh please, I have had tooth fillings that hurt worse. In fact, short of a mosuito like bite when the medication was injected, I felt little to nothing. The keys are these: 1) Forget the frozen peas and carrots...they leak and since you can't take a shower for a couple days....well, you will stink. Get those pliable gel packs you put in the freezer and rotate them. The doc will probably tell you to ice for a few hours. I say ice for two days. There are logistical reasons why that I can't explain here but it involves gravity, children's knees and elbows, and safe harbor! 2) Get two jock straps 3) Take the pain meds at LEAST each night for a couple of days. There should be no pain, but rolling over wrong at night can be an issue! 4) Curad makes a bandage called a tefla, something like that. It is a no stick guaze pad that won't stick to blood or the stitches. 5) You will feel about 1000 times better than what you thought you would after the procedure. Whatever you do, don't go mowing the lawn or painting the house or wrestling with the kids. You will regret it then. Mine was an almost magical event. I did it during the summer when it was scorching outside. I rented a bunch of men movies, got my gel packs, laid in the bed all weekend under the fan watching movies, and was waited on hand and foot. Oh yeah, the most important part--anytime my wife came in the room I winched and gingerly moved. Hey, you just did a big thing, you gotta put that feather....no that peacock feather....in the cap for later use. "Hey, I had plumbing reworked for you....what do you mean you can't go run an errand for me?" Do it, the worst part is worrying about it by far. Tominator
I haven't, but I think Dogdoc has.....LMAO. Yep, Todd might be able to give you a discount rate if you don't mind the smell of dogs in the background. To answer the question, no, my fishies are still viable. billkay
Had 2 brother in laws that had it done about the same time by 2 different doctors. The first was fine, not a single problem. The other spent an extra week or so in the hospital due to complications and infection.

Guest Andrea
Funny story about my husband's experience: I went in with him to watch the procedure since he got to watch me have 2 kids. I figured that was the least he could do.... Anyway. We're sitting there waiting on the doctor. I'm in a chair and he's on the table, prepped and ready to go. The doctor comes in carrying a tray of utensils. With his back to us he's talking and what have you. Then he turns around and says to my husband "Are we ready???" He's standing there with a syringe that is as big as my arm. Immediately my husband jumps off the table and swears. ( I'll edit here) "HECK NO I'M NOT READY!!!!!!!!!" He's pulling up his pants as quick as he can. The doctor is laughing so hard he can't stand up straight. "I'm kidding I'm kidding!!!" the doctor says. "I do this to all my patients!":D:D:D The actual needle was very small. Got it done in less than 15 minutes and my husband is now the poster boy for vasectomies. CTBowMan
I'm Done! I've had it done, it's not a big deal, the meds they give you, are really good, my Dr. had a sense of humor or so he thought...he was talking about his garage door not working while doing the procedure, I'm thinking ya know Doc, I really don't care, shouldn't you be concentrating on the task at hand so to speak? We don't need any mishaps occuring...then afterwards he's showing me the portion of the VAS tube that was removed, and he said that he sells it as fish bait, he says that the fish love it...needless to say, I wasn't impressed, but he did do a good job, and I guess he kept my mind off of what he was doing. Make sure you have either a couple bags of frozen peas or frozen shelled corn on hand, trust me, it makes a world of difference! Good Luck -- Van

punkinslinger
Been there done that...worst part was the injection into the tube. The cramp was a bit trying but after the numbing took over it was all good. Like was said prior...get the jock straps as you will need them and use the ice. PotashRLS
Not planning on it. God gave it to me so I'm keeping it. I wouldn't force her to do anything she was not comfortable with. I don't think such things are team decisions unless it is a serious health issue.
