preacherman
Have permission to fish a friends farm pond. Have caught a ton of fish there earlier this summer on a junebug baby brush hog. The water has turned muddy and the temps have dropped somewhat and I can't get the fish to hit. Any recommendations on what you might throw? VABuckSlayer
It kind of depends on what the pond is like (structure, depth, etc.) If it's stained right now I would say throw a black/blue jig-n-pig. Also a chartruse/white spinnerbait with a gold turtle back blade. I like to put a white grub on the spinnerbait as a trailer. Gives it a little more action and will create more vibration in the stained water. Good luck and hope you catch a HAWG! BTW... that junebug baby brushhog is my favorite and should still work for you now!!! Eric
Missed160
I assume your fishing bass, which really slow down as the weather cools. To catch them now you need to keeps baits in front of them for a lot longer, fish them a lot slower so the don't have to chase them. We have had a ton of luck the past few years for fall smallies & large mouths on Husky Jerks. They suspend at what ever depth you need them to, they have rattles inside which can really help in murky water. Fish em slow, not constant retrieves, just twitch em in. Bass can stand watching that thing move by.. We catch bass, notherns & walleyes on them till ice up..
muggs
I'd guess the problem is more the muddy water than the cold. Heck, you're in Mississippi, it never gets cold there. I'd suggest black, slow moving lures. Scent will help them find it too. I'd try the jig 'n pig like was mentioned, or a black powerworm with some scent.
