HarvDog
Has anyone ever tried the Lectra Sox battery heated socks? Are they effective or just a gimmick?
Guest bowhunter56
Save your money, if you walk alot or walk in a long ways and your feet get wet, just take extra socks, and a plastic bag to put the wet socks in..
birdhunter39
if you have a good pair of boots and a pair of wool socks , you won't need battery operated socks , i had gloves that were battery heated , and after a few minute's i had to take them off . just bring a extra socks , you'll be good to go
Guest Finn
I wear Lacrosse Icemans with 1 pair of light wool socks and put a handwarmer on the top of my foot....keeps them pretty toasty when it's darn cold up here.
Tominator
Same as what the others have said. If I need extra toe warmth, I use the boot warmers, those little air activated ones.
toddyboman
I agree save your money. A guy I know had a pair and they cord that runs through them that heats up burnt the bottom of his foot.
BearClaw
Try the biggest % of merino wool socks you can find with a base thin layer from Cabela's (or similar). That will keep you warm. If you don't walk a lot, the rubber boots work great, say 1000 gram Thinsulate or just good 800 gr insulated hunting boots. Yes, those Toasty Toes work great too! Gadgets are great sometimes but I don't recommend these. I had a pair once and as I recall, you couldn't wear a pair of socks over them. Well, if the batteries wear out and you're out in the freezing cold, you have one pair of socks (heated or were heated that is) then your feet will get cold or you have to take the boots off and put on good socks or replace the batteries. It's just a hassle.
unioncountyslayer
Have to agree, they are a waste of money. I got a pair a few Christmas' ago, and they were worthless, plus they wear the battery down in about 2-3 hours, so you have to use rechargables or buy new ones each time you wear them. Plus they aren't even as warm as using the above mentioned toasty-toes or hand warmers.
