Guest COACH J.
Well I got back from my trip to pike county Ill with a tag in my pocket!!!!!! I saw several nice bucks that didnt get close enough and passed on a few that I now wish I had taken..On the last afternoon of the trip I was in a climber hunting a funnel that goes up to an alfalfa feild. I was about 60 yards into the woods off the feild..Bucks come to that funnel and scent check the feild before going in it.About 80 yards in front of me I saw a big body moving toward the feild so I hit the grunt tube and he turned and came runing straight at me..he was a huge 10 point with great mass! Anyway he was headed for the drainage ditch in front of me its 20 yards from my stand so when he got to the ditch I drew and was ready to bust him! All he had to do was take 2 more steps and I had him instead he turned and followed the ditch into the bottom where I had no shooting lanes.... I was sick !! Just 2 more steps!! But oh well thats why we call it huntin not killin..

MUDRUNNER
Sounds like you had a good hunt and seem a few nice bucks.Early October hunting in Illinois can be tough, but you must have had some decent movement.

Bowtech_archer07
That kinda stinks Coach. At least you saw some movement. I live in IL and the only time i've seen deer are on Friday and Sunday evenings.... and they are all either too small or too far.
