RangerClay
Had my worst opening day ever:( I had the deer patterned and Saturday morning was supposed to be a slam dunk for a doe. We got in our stands and I knew from the beginning that something was wrong when the buzzards started to swoop overhead. We got driven out of our treestands by rain and hail, so we decided to go for a drive. That's when we found the problem. We saw a dead deer in the field below my treestand. We drove out expecting a roadkill and it was a poached buck with the head cut off. They left the rest. I called the DEC and the rest of the day was rained out. So I go back out this morning with mixed emotions. I'm hoping things will get better. Wrong! Now I have coyotes packing up around me. I got a crack at one but missed. The poachers scared away my deer the first day. The coyotes scared away my deer the second day. And what makes me even madder is that I will probably get stuck disposing of the dead deer. I hope the rest of my deer season goes better than this. Thank you for letting me rant. I feel better now.
Guest shooterbuck
sucks that just screws up everything when trespassers take advantage of your hard work. good luck the remainder of season.

Guest Andrea
Boy does this sounds familiar. I have been exactly where you have been. Nothing more depressing than having idiot-poachers/coyotes/dogs ruin your hunt/season for you. We went scouting today and found bones everywhere on part of the property we hunt. Also some guy's four wheeler trail and flagging where he was trespassing. The nerve!!!!! Well, needless to say we are posting signs all around the property and the game warden has been notified. Good luck Joe, hope your season gets better!!!!!
QDMAworks4me
Stupid poachers!! Sorry to hear of your bad neighbors, there are a bunch of poachers around our parts for sure. Good luck catching them and good luck with the rest of your season.
wtnhunt
That really stinks Joe, can definitely relate. Hope the poachers get caught.
buckee
That's a real bummer. It's amazing how even one poacher can ruin everything Seems to be the same around here too. It always seems like the poachers like to do their thing, the night before the season opens. I'm not sure what the mentality is behind this, but it sure puts a damper on us legal folks, the next morning.

johnf
That makes no sence to me at all. I could understand (not agree with)a family needing food and shooting a deer. I just can't understand behaviour like that. What is the point? How could someone be proud of that kind of thing? Hope the rest of your season goes better. J.ALLEN.IA
Haven't had a poaching problem, but had a huge 'yote problem last year. Couldn't shoot anything and leave it over night if needed- they were all over it. Than like you started seeing them running all over the fields chasing everything away. sskybnd
i feel your pain, we have a person, poacher in our opion and cant do any thing about it, we have a person thats one tree back from our lease line in a ladder stand facing our hard wood bottoms, we confronted him about it and he is legal, and we talked to the gamewarden and he said he was legal to be where he is and only if he shoots a deer on our property would he than be unlegal, so unless we sit next to him, he probally will kill one on our lease.
