WiHunter813
I went bow hunting on some public land my future father-in-law(cliff) and i checked out earlier in the year. as i walking in to the wood i saw a tree that had some low branches so i decided to climb it to get a better view. Bad mistake i got about 15 ft up when the branch i was on gave out and down i went. once on the ground i realized that i hurt my foot right below the ankle. i knew i had to get to the ER and that i couldnt do it myself. called the future in laws and out they came. i had told them i would be hunting near there home so they didnt have any trouble finding me. Cliff picked me up and fireman carried me to my truck and off we went. doc said i dislocated it and put me in a walking cast. I am very grateful that i let someone know where i was. if i had not it would have ment me crawling to my truck. my advise to all is let someone know where u are even if u've hunted there before because things can change in seconds. Be safe out there. And someone get a big one for me.

Nut
Heal fast and get back out there. When I go out alone there is always someone who knows where my planned hunt takes place and about what time I will be home.

nativetexan
Let me add that ANYTIME you go in the woods you should let someone know where you are going. Hiking, exploring, whatever. Also, take a small backpack with some basic survival stuff in it in case you have to spend the night, or god forbid several days unplanned. My sister in law and her two young girls, along with a friend, up and decided to go hiking last weekend and got lost in the woods of Southwestern VA. They took nothing with them, she has no cell phone, not to mention they decided to go on a whim and went at 3:45 in the afternoon. They managed to find their way back out but didn't get home until almost midnight to the remaining members of the family worried as heck. For the record, this girl has no business in the woods without some education. She is as city as city gets.

wtnhunt
Sorry about your foot, hope it heals up quick. We usually carry radios here, but I usually will let the wife know which stand I am going to when I go out, likewise she always tells me where she is going to go.
