kshunter
First off, I've never had the chance to use a deer decoy, but after seeing so many people have success with them, I thought I'd give it a try. Besides... there were several times last year, where I would watch bucks from opposite sides of a big field, square off after seeing each other for a few minutes. So, does anybody have any tricks or tips? Obviously the time around the rut seems to be the best time to use them, but has anyone tried them in the early season (early-mid Oct) with any success? Tominator
Ohiobucks does. He can tell you a recent story. They work at given times and situations. I don't use them until late in the season or during rut, and then usually out in an open field situation.
VermontHunter
I put out a Renzo's feeding doe Sunday evening,, had 2 doe's step out in the field on the opposite side and just stare at it for a few minutes and then just walk away ... :( They didn't seem to overly concerned or disturbed about the decoy,, they just mossied on in the other direction..
