buffett1
I have been using the G5 montecs for awhile and have sharpened them with the G5 stone. I was just wondering how many strokes a guy should put on each side before feeling confident that they are razor sharp? Is there a way to test the sharpness? Guest AustinAggie
Montecs I usually go about 10 strokes on each side, first with a rough stone, then 10 more with a finer stone. I haven't gotten mine razor sharp, but I have killed a doe already this year with the Montecs. Good enough test if you ask me.
WVreddot870
montecs check out their web site and watch the video clip on sharpening. Color the blades with a marker before you start. You will be able to see how much you've taken off or how much you need to take off. It works great and keeps the edges even.
Hardwood_HD
i put the marker on mine and run it back and forth until its gone, then flip it over to the fine side for a few light passes, killed two deer with them this year and they are razor sharp once again..
