Nick
Well Saturday night was turning out to be a typical evening in my honey hole on a farm North of the house. I don't see deer until right at dark, usually around 7pm this early in the season. About 5:45 I hopped in the truck and took off to my spot and got settled in the stand at about 6:15. After sitting a few minutes, I looked at my watch and it read 6:49. About 10 minutes later, like on clock work, I hear footsteps in the thick brush in front of my stand. I got my bow up and release attached. Sure enough a healthy 1 1/2 year old buck appears at 25 yards. He continues walking toward me and gets behind a clump of trees, so I draw my bow. He comes out from behind the trees at 12 yards and stops broadside. I aim and let it go. My shot hit good left to right but a little low. The arrow zips through him and he runs 10-15 yards and stops to turn around and see what the heck was going on. My first instinct was to get another arrow and put another one in him. I get the arrow knocked and draw back.....Hes now at 25 yards or so. With the deer quartered to me, I gap shot my 20 and 30 yard pins just in front of the left shoulder and hit the jackpot. He ran through the woods sounding like a herd of elephants running off and I hear him crash. Getting dark now, I decide to let him lay and go get some help. I get to the truck and put my bow away, take off all my camo and put it in my scent free container, hop in the truck and go to back out when I hear a "crunch". I look in the rear view mirrow and see my quivver wit 2 arrows laying under my rear tire. The quivver was ruined plus the 2 arrows and the broadheads. I was quite ticked at myself but let it go and go get my uncle to help recover. The buck went down right where I heard him crash, leaving a solid blood trail about 2' wide all the way up to him. After getting lost and dragging the deer for 2-2 1/2 hours for about a mile mile and a half....we finally find the truck and get him home and hung up. So after all was said and done...I started adding up what this deer cost me. Lisence-$15 4 broken arrows-$40 4 wasted broadheads-$50 1 quivver-$50 processing-$60 fuel-$15 So, all in all, this deer cost me around $230 from what I fugured. The result....a 12" spike horn and some tasty meat. Who ever said this sport was cheap? Oh well, The excitement and addrenaline rush was worth it. Plus I got some meat and a little bit of bone for the wall.

Texan_Til_I_Die
Could have been worse - you could have gotten a tire with one of those broadheads! But congrats on the deer.

Tominator
Could be worse. If you were in my area, that processing fee would be more like $80 to $90. I've pulled a couple manuevers like that. I've got a bunch of knives spread all over central Ohio.

murphy617
congrats on the deer!!! my buddy left his quiver on his hood once after a little practice at my house then went to go hunting the next day and realized it would be tough with no arrows!! so, about three days later i was driving down my road and saw some bright colors stickin out of bush, so i stopped and found it was his quiver with all arrows still intact. and he thought it was going to be an expensive opps!
