98chevy
Ive been hunting for along time and consider my self a good bowhunter but i made the most newbie mistake I think I could have made. I got up in my stand it was cold and perfect. I had alot of deer activity all pretty far off. I was pumped about a nice buck. Well about 8:45 I heard something right behind me, and for some reason i went into to what i call "fighter pilot" mode. (you ever seen where when they look for the bogie they are checking each side about as fast as they can turn there head) Well i went in that mode and about the fourth head yank and turning my body I relized he was about 15 yards behind my right shoulder stareing at me like what in the world is that. So when i relized what he was it took off. I couldnt help but laugh. Im not sure why I got so excited but I didnt do it any more.

Guest bow_hunter101
LOL I've been bowhunting for quite a few years and have taken several deer, so I consider myself somewhat "experienced" and I did the same thing this weekend! Saturday morning I had, what I thought was, 2 does (one turned out to be a button buck) at 30 yards and I was considering drawing on one when I heard 2 bucks start going at it about 80 yards to my left. I jerked my head to look without even thinking and about got busted! Lucky for me the 2 deer in the field heard the bucks fighting and jerked their heads up to look and didn't notice me. I felt like an idiot! I never got either of the fighting bucks to come in, but I wound up shooting the button buck for the freezer
beagleboy
A man/woman can not call himself/herself a bowhunter if the sounds of an upcoming deer doesn't excite a person. That usually happens to me the beginning of the season when I'm too eager to be out there. You saw a buck at 15 yds, it was a good day in my book. Good luck with your season. rhine16
Been there done that, especially early in the season. You'll get another crack at it. Good luck!
colescott1
Haven't got out much this year...but when I have, I'm still suffering from "Squirrel Jump Adreneline rush". With it so dry, those little critters sound like a 200lb 10pt!!! If it wasn't for the anticipation, we'd all stay home and play chess I guess. Dogg6
I think we've all done it more than once. You sit in the stand for hours and think sit still, be quiet. Then at the first noise you're moving around like a 3 year old on a sugar rush. Then you think, wow I hope nothing saw that. It happens, but if it didn't excite me anymore, I'd have to give it up. Straight Shooter
Been there done that, usually on the first hunt or two of the season! LOL Stupid Hurts in many different ways! LMBO J/K I'd give it up if I didn't get that sudden rush of blood to my head when I hear crunch crunch in the leaves.

buckee
Yep, yep Pretty tough sometimes not to wheel your head around, when you hear something like that. You just have to remember, the deer aren't hunting you :D
