rhine16
Welcome to the forums! I dont really like to bow hunt in the rain because of the possibility of the rain washing a blood trail.
Guest bow_hunter101
I use a Hunter's Specialties umbrella over my treestands and wear camo raingear so I can hunt comfortably in rain or snow.
Tominator
What part of Ohio bud? Didn't realize any part of Ohio was getting a lot of rain. Southeast Ohio is in a severe drought! Anyway. Tips: Make extra sure you have a good shot, because, as mentioned before, the rain might wash the bloodtrail away. Keep your eyes open, and look around a lot. Deer can sneak up on you pretty easy if the ground is wet. Keep yourself dry, Goretex if you can afford it. That will make you more comfortable on stand. Definitely hunt though, I see a lot of deer when it's raining.
okiedog
I use a Hunter's Specialties umbrella over my treestands. I have always carried one of these in my pack as well. There have been a few times the weather will stir up some rain for 10-15mins. This is just the thing to keep me in the stand.
beagleboy
I don't bowhunt in the rain. My luck, I'll shoot a great buck and a washed out blood trail.

Straight Shooter
I've got one tree brella and getting ready to order the super mag by buckwing. Besides some good rain gear you can't beat a tree brella for hunting.
Ravin R10 man
wal mart sells the buckwing umbrellas..as far as shooting in the rain..i would not take a shot that was not a sure kill under those or any conditions , other than snow, then an expected heavy snow fall is the other one

Hmmmm, you must be in a different dimension, because central Ohio is way behind on rain. LOL

Guest Finn
If you are new to bowhunting, I would not recommend hunting in the rain. Why? I only hunt in very light rain and will only take the perfect shot....if you're new, hunt with no rain so you get experience bowhunting and tracking deer before you try it in a condition that makes recovery harder. Welcome to Realtree.
Tony
Welcome to Realtree Vinny. for me i do not hunt in the rain for the reasons most list here. its just too tough on tracking if you dont make the perfect shot. plus i dont like getting all my gear wet. shooting your bw in the rain will have a big effect on accuracy. you need to practice in the rain to get a feel for how much differant your bow reacts. i shot a few tournaments in the rain where it really effected me and my gear. you can do it, keep your shots close and olny shoot if you get the perfect quartering away or broadside shot. a low exit hole is best for leaving big blood trails. i dont mind hunting in misting rain, but i dont go out in downpours anymore. Shoot Strong Tony
wildthing
I don't like to hunt in the rain...might wash the blood away.
Rhino
Welcome to the forum vinny. If it's a light rain I'll hunt in it but like others said my shot selection will be for close shots. I use a tree umbrella too. Down here deer move pretty good in a light rain too. If it gets to be a heavy rain, I'll pack it in or wait it out if I think there's a good chance it will either slack up alot or quit. Deer tend to move around pretty good down here right after a heavy rain quits.
GobblerBuster618
haha there are about 5 of us in the central ohio area on this site i think. maybe 6 i dont do too much hunting in the rain. affraid of losing the trail after the shot
98chevy
I have hunted in th rain before. I consider my self a good tracker. So it doesnt bother me. Its a great time to hunt also. The big boys tend to move in it also. But since it has felt like years since it rained I use the umbrella as a sun guard.
