iron buck
Just back from Colorado hunting elk with CB. Shared a camp with a tried & true 30-06 fan. Can't argue with success....his rifle has taken something like 20+ elk. I think there is room for us OTPG guys to hunt with guys like Bob.......and share his drinks to:D ....after all.it was REAL cold:D
Brad6639
Yup, the old 30-06 is responsible for plenty of elk deaths, I have an aunt who thiinks you have to have a .40 cal to kill a deer THAT alone an elk, but she dont hunt, all she does is read balistic tables. I figure at a reasonable range, a 30-06 should be more than enough for even the biggest elk. Shot placement is way more important than the speed behind it. I have LOTS of work to get caught up on after a week away....but it was worth it!!! That camo pattern is actually Mossy Oak Break up. (am I allowed to admit that??) I got a great deal on it at a sale at Cabelas. It is the MTO50 stuff. Gortex & light weight. a GREAT layering system for when it is in the 20s at one point of the day & 50s at another. We had snow....and sun! But it sure is beautiful!

Bill, Bill, Bill........................ You've been at altitude and depriving your poor brain of oxygen for too long. Hopefully a couple more days down here where the air is thicker will get you thinking straight. We WILL have to talk on the 28th.
