Has this happened to anyone else? I hung my climber last week in the perfect tree in the perfect spot I had scouted all summer. Walked in before daylight headlamp on walked up to what I thought was my tree and there's no stand. I thought I had walked to the wrong tree so I stood there untill daylight because I didn't want to be stomping around aimlessly running everything outa there in the dark. Sure enough when it got light enough for me to see I was at the right tree.

Who has the nerve to steal someones climber stand???? To make it worse it's private property that my family hunts and noone else so that means not only is he a thief but a trespassing thief.

Check pawn shops. Also, figure out who may have found out you were hunting over there.. try to see if anyone you knew has the stand.. without letting on, you might find it was taken by a person that knew it was there.

Sorry about your stand. Had a ladder stand and separate seat stolen once. It was up behind my house a couple of hundred yards. I went to get it after turkey season and I had a gut feeling that it wasn't going to be there, and it wasn't. That is a pretty low thing to do. Those people aren't hunters, they are just shooters and there's a big difference.

Had a climber stolen 2 years ago. Went out for an evening hunt ON PRIVATE PROPERTY to find that it was gone. However, it had snowed all day and to my luck, fresh footprints would apear. After following the crooks I tracked them staight to their trailer house. 20 min later the PA state police and I made a visit. Long story short, I got my stand back they got a courtdate. So keep your eyes and ears open, most crooks are pretty stupid.

I found the point of entry yesterday. There is a gate on the back of the property that backs up to about 500 acres owned by someone else. The lock was cut and it looks like someone has been using it frequently. I contacted the land owner and he was unaware of anyone hunting his property other than his family wich I know and they are good people. I set up a trail cam to try and get some pics. Don't know if it will work or not but I figured it was worth a try.

Last year on the way to where I park I decided to drop my API Grand Slam climber stand off for I didnt have to carry it so far I put it in the ditch behind a tree where you couldnt see it from the road I park got dressed was walking down the road and a guy in a black chevy Z71 drove by smiling and waving so I waved back. Then I got to my treestand should be and it was gone. I had never been so mad!!! I couldnt believe it. And I have never seen that truck again around my hunting area.

Sorry man !!! Know the fealing. I've had a stand, Doghouse blind, and a heater in a box blind stolen on private property. Nothing makes me angrier.

And sighns only keep the honest man out !!!!!!!!!

I think that's what upsets me the most. The thought of stealing anything has never crossed my mind....rules and morals mean nothing to some people. The ones who respect others and follow rules are always the ones who get screwed.

that really sucks. i'd make a police report, as they check the pawn shops for miles around. other counties, and even other states. it will show up. good luck with the trail cam. and, i'll bet it's not a hunter. it's a mushroom collector, or anti hunter just trying go disrupt.

I haven't thought of that....it's really not out of the relm of possibilities.

  • 3 weeks later...

theives are the mud under my boots IMO, i have a hang on stand on the property i hunt and i just take my climbing sticks with me when in go hunting, if they can get my stand down being it is about 20 to 25 feet up the tree without the sticks then they must really want it. and besides stands start at like 50 bucks i mean come on.
