Steven Posted October 22, 2007 Report Share Posted October 22, 2007 Friday my mom took my grandmother to the hospital with symptoms resembling food poisoning. After 9 (NINE!!!) hours in the emergency waiting room they took a cat scan and decided she needed emergency surgery due to a twisted intestinal track. (Perhaps it wouldn't have been such an emergency if they hadn't taken broken fingers before her). Anyway, the surgery went well and she was showing signs of recovery today, until a few hours ago. She's prone to panic attacks which affect her breathing since she has end stage emphysema so we've been keeping the news all positive and dealing with doctors out of her ear shot, until after ICU visiting hours and we all had to leave. That's when the urologist came in and looked her straight in the face and said "your kidneys are failing" then turned and walked out. What an idiot! Her nurse called my mom when she noticed my grandmother was having a lot of anxiety and she went up there. They don't know if there's much they can do about the kidneys so we're just in wait and see mode, which is horrible. Now, I'm not a praying man, but my grandmother really believes in prayer, so if you could please say a few for Mary Martin I'd appreciate it. I'll keep you posted.
