Hot spot!

Turkeygirl

I went back to the state land late this afternoon, around 4pm, to the spot where I had heard turkeys talking up a storm and found scratchinggs 2 weeks ago. Guess what? I get into the woods about 50 yards, stop because leaves are so noisy and it sounds like an army going through! The turkeys are in the same spot, I hear a few clucks, I see one through the trees but they all move off, I think they saw me. I move in a little more and set-up. I give a few yelps and kee-kees and clucks and got a few responses but nothing came in. Eventually it quieted down and where I last heard them is where they had headed last time, I think their roosting area. Lots of fresh and old scratchings in there...

So how should I hunt them? I'm going back tomorrow afternoon and see if I can't get one or roost them. Should I sit down by where I last heard them, where I think they may be roosting and wait for them? If I hear them roost, would the best bet be to scatter them off the roost then go back in the morning? Just set-up in that area and hope they come by? Being that it was 4pm both times they were on this spot on the ridge, I'd guess they must hit it about that same time on their way to roost.

Any tips are appreciated.;)

No one has any good tips? Well then....I'll be going to that spot tomorrow morning, set-up, and see what happens. Hopefully some good action. I'm trying to decide whether set-up close to where I THINK they are roosting or set-up in the area where I was last night, with all the scratchings...maybe inbetween somewhere. Hopefully this rainy, cold day we've had didn't make them roost elsewhere.
