Good Idea or Not?

I have two stands that are just about impossible to get into in the AM without jumping deer. Deer are either feeding in the corn pile or bedded somewhere along the way. 4-wheelers are not an uncommon sound to deer where I am hunting. Do you think that riding the 4-wheeler close enough to the stand to get the deer to run off for a little bit and drive away and walk back in would work? Reason why I ask, is because both stands I have pictures of good bucks, and some are in the AM. Also I rode past a field today(afternoon) and ran the deer out while my buddy was trying to get in the stand and they came back and he got an 8 pt.

Using corn is always a risk that when you come in in the AM, they are there waiting for you. I know, I busted 5 a few weeks ago right under my stand. Same scenario with corn and apples. You can try putting the corn maybe 100 yds up from your stand so they can feed while you get in your stand. Obviously you have to intercept them on their way back from feeding to bedding. I tried that with my feeder until the bears got to it. You can try another way in but that's not always possible but you will still bust them coming in. I wouldn't plan on the deer coming back in after you bust them. They might but the ones I busted didn't. In fact I saw zip the rest of the morning and that afternoon. That's a risk I don't take anymore. What I do is take some apples and crush them and hang them in a mesh bag for the scent to drift and take some corn to put out to stop them long enough for a shot. Deer are smart, we have to hunt smart! Good luck!

I think it would be better if you could have someone drop you off on the wheeler and leave. if it works do it or just try it

That is a good tactic... I have the same problem sometimes on one of my hottest stands. I go in EARLY!!! I only hunt on the correct wind, and I don't mean a 2 mph swirler. It has to be 5-10 NE... Walk in as slow as possible taking slow steps. Try to walk like a deer would walk. Sure you may still jump deer or get blown at, but don't give up. Get settled in and you will be surprised what will come back in after the sun rises.

Another thing, if it is possible is to rake out you path for a quieter approach. If you are walking through a bedding area you may want to change your path if possible.

I would try getting dropped off in a 4-wheeler. Roger Raglin always said don't walk anywhere you can drive. Walking in will spook the deer more than a truck of 4-wheeler.

Most of the time I am alone when I hunt since I am in college. Wierd hunting times.. Every once in awhile I will have someone else with me, but most of the time I am alone. That why I brought up the idea of going by the stand and stop and then move off a little way, park, and then walk back in. So ill give it a shot and see how it turns out. All ill do is spook them either way. I just figured since they were more used to 4-wheelers than me, they may come back easier.

I've noticed that when I run into deer on the four wheeler they jump but tend to only go a little ways and dont blow....but when they jump when I'm walking they run and run
