Just as with all of our other religious holidays, the devil as worked to obscure or replace good holidays with fluff or evil. Christmas = Santa, Easter = bunnies and eggs, Reformation Day = demonic celebration of gore and death (Halloween).

The greatest revival since the book of Acts occured at the time of the Reformation. The gospel was re-discovered and was again preached with power to the salvation of millions. The Bible was translated and given to the people for the first time. Our nation was birthed as a direct result of the Reformation. It should be celebrated by all liberty-loving Americans with as much vigor as July 4th. Read, if you have not, Foxes Book of Martyrs and learn of the Reformers. Or listen to a great sermon on the Reformation.

John,

Reformation Day, October 31, is the anniversary of the day that Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the church at Wittenberg and is considered the start of the Protestant Reformation. (There were movements prior to this, of course, but once these were printed and distributed to the masses, the Reformation spread throughout Europe).

It's a minor festival, but commemoration of a major political event and really the starting point for religious freedom.
