Adjam5
I am replacing my old cedar arrows with a dozen of the GoldTip Traditional carbons with the wood grain on them. Got a dozen shafts for 59.99. I need to pick fletching. I love feathers for trad shooting so I am going to go with them. I am looking at 5" barred sheild cut feathers. I am shooting a right handed Ben Pearson Javelina in 45lbs/28". I shoot off the shelf and since I am right handed, I would need a left wing feather fletch ...right? To spin the arrow away from the riser... That is the million dollar question:D Before I order the WRONG fletch! I have never fletched trad arrows before. Always bought them ready to go. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
JimPic
You can shoot right wing or left--doesn't matter what hand you're shooting. The only time it'll make a differance is if you're shooting off the knuckle
Adjam5
Thanks Jim How have ya been? So if I am shooting off the knuckle, right handed; then I will need a left helicle? Correct? Otherwise off the shelf any fletch will do. I like the shield cut feathers, but am confused on size. Don't know if 5" shield or 4" parabolic feathers are right. I am looking forward to fletching these shafts. Thanks for your help!
JimPic
I've been doing ok--new job,new girl. Both keeping me busy;). That is correct about left wing shooting off the knuckle.I've been using 4" shields and haven't had any problems getting arrows to fly good.
