I used one this year to finish off a wounded buck. 158 grain S&W out of my Ruger .357 Mag New Model Blackhawk. It did the trick... Handgunnr (the mod for that room) can suggest a good load for deer. As far as effective range? Thats up to the shooter not the bullets, but if I were to place a limit, I'd say no more then 60 yards and thats pushing it...
