LifeNRA
Well tonight I see a few bucks chasing a doe! Legal deer but nothing close. About 6:25 this evening, a small eight pointer comes down the trail to about 10 yards. Oh and by the way I am on the ground too! Sunset was 6:12PM, now in PA we can hunt 30 minutes after sunset. The problem its really getting dark, but I can make out the rack. He stops, I am on full draw I pick a spot while using the 15 yard pin, he is only 10 yards away from me. The wind is in my face, I am thinking this is perfect! I release, the deer jumps, runs about 20 yards and stops! He puts his nose to the ground and continues on his way! I hear the arrow bouncing off the rocks in the distance! I start thinking I missed! For the next 30-40 minutes I am looking for blood, nothing! Now I am playing the whole scene back in my mind and thinking I missed him! He never knew I was there, he was content following the doe scent which the other two bucks were chasing! I am about 99.9% sure I missed him clean. But that darn .1% is killing me! SO tomorrow morning Ill be back out looking for blood and my arrow! It got soooooooo dark, and I was by myself! I had two flashlights but I thought it would be best to wait till morning! I hope I find that arrow!!! :o:o:o:o

Master_Chief
Sounds like a clean miss. I can't imagine a deer hit like that would go back on a doe.
Tominator
Sounds familiar. I think I got a good hit on a doe tonight, but Tom and I found no evidence of a hit, and no arrow. Going back in the morning also.

Going back in the morning also. Well good luck to you Chris! Looks like both of us wont be sleeping too good tonight! One good thing might come out of this! My nephew will be tagging along. Maybe this will spark something in him! One thing that really gripes me. If I would have had my pin light on, I don't even doubt for a minute I would have smoked him! But things happened so fast, and I never ever gave it a thought!

MCH
At that distance, its real easy to shoot over the back of one. That would be my guess.
The Kid
you know i don't like missing but i would rather miss clean then to wound a deer. i think the one percent of thinking you hit him come from not finding the arrow. because i've shot deer high and tight to the shoulder, and the arrow stayed lodged in his shoulder and diddn't bleed. but if he went on chasing the doe i don't think you hit him, you get another crack at him don't worry.. Shawn
Sorry for the miss, but better than the deer being wounded.
Tominator
100% CLEAN MISS!!! My nephew found the arrow!!! I am now 100% relieved!!! Happy for you John. Wish I could report the same. Tom and I found about 3 spots of blood, 2 white hairs, 1 brown hair, some scuff prints for about 200 yards, but that was it. Never did find my arrow either. There was some chasing going on, so we decided not to disturb the area too much.
