muzzy916
well i went out to my spot and before i could even get started headed that way 2 does were standing right by my blind. so i walked though the thicket to get close enough to get a shot. i got within 25 yards of them drew back before i steped out of the thicket got out there and shot.(remember fist bow kill) i couldnt really control my self i was shaking bad. there was about 9 or 10 out there, and a 6 pointer. i passed on him cuz i shot a big one last year with my gun that im trying to get close to but needless to say i hit her far back like in her back hip. but i thought that i had hit that artery i had alot of bright red blood. i tracked her for 1 and 1/2 before i lost all blood im guesing i just missed the artery and hopefully she is still alive but i was still exited about hitting my first with a bow . but good luck to every one. Guest LIVEWIRE
i started to reply earlier but didn't so i came back. first of all i'm not going to critisize you on your hunt i did my first buck many moons ago and i too was shaking so bad i hit him in the back hoof,so you controled it better than i . BUT FROM NOW ON.....you'll control your breathing you'll target practice and you'll pick a SPOT and EXECUTE with percision that your capable of. you have the true desire that it takes to hunt whitetails and you owe it to them to kill quickly and this i know you will do you sorta remind me of me hang in there your day will come remember pick that hair on his/her side and aim so the arrow will go to the opposite shoulder (both lungs)...and good hunting in the future ok

NY_Bowhunter14
it's all a part of hunting those things happen. i too hit my first deer with the bow way back, i severed the main artery and she ran over to my hunting buddy and he finished her off... hope she survives and good luck in furute hunts!!!
