An Unusual Prayer Request

I have an unusual prayer request that I would like you guys to pray for. As many of you know, almost one year ago I broke my leg in a deer hunting accident. Apparently, through the hospital, my insurance company has come to the conclusion that they are wanting to sue someone to try to get money back since this was an injury. I have been contacted by the law office working with my insurance company and they are not being very polite.

Here is my pickle; I was on one of my best friends land when this happened. I don't know for sure if he had insurance or not; but I do not want anything to happen to him or our relationship. I know that this could be hard on our friendship. Please pray that the insurance company would back off. They settled with the hopsital for a little over $10,000 and I am paying about $7,000 of that out of my own pocket; so if my figures are correct, they are only out about $3,000.00

I don't understand this; but I don't like the way that it is going down...........so please pray.

Blessings,

Scott

Will be praying

Pastor Scott, Rest assurred, I will pray for you & your situation. Sometimes its hard to remember that God uses all things & situations for our good (sometimes someone elses good).

As for the ins. company, - sometimes I just gotta wonder if there will be any insurance folks, lawyers or bankers in heaven??;);) Lane

Pastor Scott--you'll be in my prayers as well.

Steve--I don't know the whys to this kind of thing either, but I had something similar happen to me. Last may, I shattered my finger playing softball for my work team. Over and over, the hospital kept trying to ask me what happened, if it was anybody's fault, etc. They like to look for someone--or preferrably a company or insurance company to sue. It must be all those starving lawyers.

I don’t know about you preacherman, but I would under no circumstances sue my friend, even if I had to pay the $3000 insurance portion out of my own pocket, and my pockets aren’t very deep.

I am going through a very similar situation myself with my Dad.

He is now in a nursing home and under hospice care. His coverage is through Medicare with Tricare as his supplemental insurance part B.

The nursing home is self-pay, but Medicare and Tricare are supposed to pay for all the medical stuff.

I just received a letter from Tricare with a form to fill out. You can see this form at: http://www.tricare.mil/claims/Dd_2527.pdf

My Dad suffers from dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and blood pressure problems as well as a very low platelet count.

There is one thing that the Alzheimer’s has not taken from him, and that is his inborn mechanical aptitude.

He has figured out a way to disable every bed and wheelchair alarm they have installed.

A few weeks ago he attempted to get out of bed at 2am, not realizing that he was attached with a Foley Catheter to the side of the bed. About a half step from the edge of the bed the catheter took a tug and that caused him to loose his balance and he fell.

The fall caused the catheter to pull out past his prostate, but not all the way out. The nurses found him bleeding on the floor in about 60 seconds, and sent him next door to the hospital to have the catheter reinserted and X-rays to make sure he did not hurt himself in the fall.

Now, Tricare does not want to pay their portion if there is any way they can keep from it, so they send me this form called Statement of Personal Injury-Possible Third Party Liability.

It appears that they want us to sue the very nursing home that is taking care of Dad.

I think this is probably the course that most insurance companies are going to take in order to keep from paying what your premiums are supposed to cover. Although they blame it on the high cost of health care, the real reason is their (profit) bottom line.

I’ll be praying for you to make the right decisions, and likewise, you can also pray that I do as well.

Feel the same way Scott. Dont really understand how the insurance company can file a suit against your friend without you involved in the first place, but hope everything turns out ok.

That is one of the things that I am going to try to find out today. I am first going to a lawyers office myself to sit down and get counsel on this matter of how that I need to handle the law office representing my insurance company. I am the one caught in the middle here. This is a law office trying to re-coup money lost in the claim. I don't totally understand everything involved. Trust me, I am not going to do anything to my friend. I will pay the money out of my pocket if I have to, don't have it to pay, but I will do what I can. And trust me on this one............if I do.............I will also be changing insurance companies!
