huntn4bucks
I recently finalized all the details (hotel, plane ticket, license, etc) for my waterfowl hunt in Northern California. This Bama boy has never hunted the Pacific Flyway so I'm really looking forward to it. The place I will be hunting is located about 1-2 hours north of Sacramento. I'll be spending fours days out there beginning December 1st. I hunt so much public water around here that it will be nice to get away from the crowds and hunt some private spots for a change. huntn4bucks
Thanks Cove. I didn't even duck hunt the first opener in Bama. Brian shot a limit on the opener but the other two guys with him only shot two between them. I'll give you a report when I get back.
stevebeilgard
you'll do real well on pintils, so make sure you have a whistle & a few sprig decoys. good luck
dogdoc
hope you're slaying them right now!
Leo
you'll do real well on pintils, so make sure you have a whistle & a few sprig decoys. good luck I hear California has pintails like Arkansas has Mallards. I love to shoot greenheads but that would very cool to see a giant flock of sprigs come whistling into the decoys.
huntn4bucks
you'll do real well on pintils, so make sure you have a whistle & a few sprig decoys. good luck You were right...we shot our 1 bird limit each of pintails every day we hunted. One of them was banded! The mallards were not cooperating real well so we ended up shooting a lot of widgeons. We also shot a few teal, a snow goose, and a couple of spoonies by accident. We did manage to kill a few mallards...one that was part mallard/part pintail. Here's a pic (notice the color of the bill). You can't see it very good from the pic but he had 3 full curls in his tail feathers. Here's a pic of the banded pintail (don't worry there were 4 of us hunting so we're not over the limit). That's me on the right and my younger brother on the left.
Leo
The bill on that Mallard is very unique! I've only ever seen one other cross like that. A buddy of mine killed a pintail mallard cross several years ago in North Alabama. He was gonna get it mounted and had a freezer melt down
