Turkeygirl
Andy hit a deer last night...I helped him track it but wel ost it. What happened is he hit it and he said it was a little high but the way it entered the deer, the arrow had to be in lung, but part of the arrow broke off, a good half of the arrow still in her. He picked up blood about 40-50 yards away...kind of darkish blood. We were tracking it in the dark with flashlights...I'd say less blood then what my deer had left, then we lost it! Last blood was in a hemlock swamp behind the old gravel pit. He had to work this morning and I had school so we couldn't go back out. It was down to 20 degrees this morning, maybe 45/50 today, kinda chilly? If I went out when I get home, 4:30ish, to look, and by chance found the deer, would the meat still be ok? Andy has no idea as he said he was sure it was a good hit.... What do you think?
c_lou
Dark blood sounds like a liver,IIRC. The deer is probably dead, just keep looking.
johnf
If it got that cold I would bet the meat would be fine. Glad you found it.
