MCH
....along with cash to the Tigers for two young players(pitcher Jurrjen and outfielder Hernandez). Well, the first domino has fallen early. This should be an interesting off season to say the least.
SuperMn106
I like that trade! It should work out pretty good for my Tigers.
rhine16
I dont like that trade, though it does free up Escobar to play short. I knew Renteria would go this year or the next, but i wish he could've stayed. Escobar should do a good job as a starter.
DSGB
As much as I didn't want to see Edgar traded, I knew it would happen. With Escobar to fill his shoes, he was the most likely candidate to get some decent players in return. Hernandez is one of the highest rated prospects in the outfield, and he's only 20. Jurrjens is a control pitcher (throws a lot of strikes) and is expected to compete for a spot in the starting rotation and he's only 21. Renteria would have been a free agent after next season. Better to get something for him now than loose him like everyone else.
muggs
Jurrjens threw against my Tribe a few times last season and I was really impressed with him. He's got good command and throws mid-90's if I remember correctly. So I get the trade from the Braves' standpoint, but I'm confused by the Tigers' on this one. Kenny Rogers isn't getting any younger, so why trade away a good young pitching prospect for a SS when you already have a great one in Carlos Guillen? Unless they're thinking about moving Guillen to 3B, which is really all I can come up with. craig mack
Guillen is going to first base Muggs. I like the trade even though we let go of some good prospects. Hernandez was a very good centerfield prospect, but we obviously have that position filled for a while so he was expendable and Juergins pitched pretty well for the Tigers when he was called up. They said they were going to move Carlo's at the end of the season because of nagging shoulder and knee injuries so getting Renteria fills a pretty big hole. Now all we need is a everyday left fielder and maybe another pitcher.
buckbuster11
I dont know if I like that one for Detroit. Guess they are really trying to win it right now. Jurrjens is a top prospect for sure, and Renteria's days are numbered.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
It was an ok move i guess. Like craig said, Guillen has been moved to first, think they announced that the week after their season ended. Jurrjens was impressive at times, but they still have a lot of young pitchers in the system. Hernandez was a good outfiled prospect but they have a ton of others as well, Granderson owns center field, then they have maybin, rayburn, thames, clevlen, and perez, along with mags in right. Renteria is a solid SS. and should contribute a little more on offense than Casey did last year. Now all they need to work on is the bullpen.
