wtnhunt
Overcalling can screw up an area, if the deer are coming in to blind calling and acting nervous or have you pegged then you have likely called too much, and would be your best bet to not call blind from that area for at least a week or so, maybe even more depending on how flaky they act. Sometimes too you can switch it up with your calls, I have at least a half a dozen different grunt calls and a couple can calls. I try to give at least 15 minutes between sequences with blind calling, and usually will give just 2 or 3 soft short grunts. If the deer in the area come in and do not see a deer or if they are staging where they can see an open field with no deer and you are calling, there is a good chance you will get pegged. Here the terrain is rolling hills, calling and trying to deflect the calls to sound like the deer is behind you where there is a rise out in front of you has been one of my favorite tactics and worked like a charm for me yesterday. Really the best thing to do with calling if you can is to watch the deer when you call if you have deer in view. See how they respond, remember what does and does not work for you where you are at. stevebeilgard
i prefer to call the minimum. let them know you're there, then stop
bloodtrails
Usually only try calling if I can see them. Other than that the only thing I do blind is rattling. Happy huntin'!!
ccwhitey
Last year i got my first p&y by calling it in with a can call by primos. I like to call only when I can see them since this is when ive had the most luck and i can tell what their reactions are. This big thing how much pressure is in an area and do they do any calling because if they do the "big one" may not respond to the same type of calls. Good luck tho:)
