sureshot
this mornign my mother phoned My 90 year old grandmohter to check on her as she does every mornign and no anser, she drove over to the complex she lives in and found her on the floor tryign to get up, she fell and landed on her wrist puttign 2 bones right through the skin! they phoned the ambulance and they came and brought her to the hospital, the doc said she needs pins and operations but the doctor in the city who does it is on holidays and is booked up when he is back next tuesday she will not get in till end of next week!!! I just got back from seeing her in the hospital and her hand is unbelievable, swollen like I have never seen and all black from elbow to finger tips, the doc casted her up and got the bones as strait as possable hoping they will not have ot be re brake to operate on next weekend! What else gets me is they said she might be sent home tomorrow!! How is she supposed to do anything with one arm, she is fallign down with no meds now with medicine and bones in her arm all broken how is she supposed to do anything!!to top it all off the last tiem she went under for a hip operation she hardly made it, everyone is pretty worried about the operation at her age!! BTW I have heard on many occasions how peopel like the health care we have up here in Canada, well its stuff liek this all the time, people abuse a free system till it can not handle the seriose cases! sure the doc that operates is only doing seros cases but they need more regular docs to keep up with people gettign a stubbed toe and going to a doc, it cuts back were the doctors should be!! dogdoc
Re: prayer for grandmother please!! i'm sorry to hear about granny---it sounds like maybe an assisted living home might be a good idea while she is recovering from her surgery. i don't see how she'd be able to take care of herself. todd

buckee
Re: prayer for grandmother please!! Sorry to hear about your Grandma Brett. I'll keep her in my thoughts and prayers. Your right about our health care system. Although it was great 20 and 30 years ago, it is being bled dry by people who need common sense more than they need a doctor. I hope your Grandma gets recovers well from this.

HuntingInMaine
Re: prayer for grandmother please!! I pray that your grandmother heals quickly. Maybe the assisted living arrangement that has been suggested would help. My grandmother had to move into a place like that after both legs had been amputated. She felt a lot more secure knowing she had help right there, but also still had her independence. It is something to look into...
too_pointer
Re: prayer for grandmother please!! I wish her the best Brett. I can't imagine having to wait a week for such a nasty break, especially at her age. I hope you can round up some help for her. too_pointer

Newarcher
Re: prayer for grandmother please!! Hey Sureshot....sorry about your Grandmother, I hope she recovers well. On the other topic, isn't Socialism GREAT? There are people who want to have the government in the USA to take over healthcare--primarily because it releases them from any responsibility of providing it for themselves and they can spend that money on playing....but I digress. When I encounter a mouth breather that believes the US government is the solution to anything, I ask them one question: Medicare, Social Security, Welfare, the IRS, the VA....name one of these programs that is run effectively and efficently? What, none are? Well then why in the **** would you want the same government making decisions about your healthcare? Socialism.....the world's answer to personal freedom and Capitalistic success.
