Guest kellyguinn
Got this one 20 miles west of Alva, Oklahoma. I sat behind a cedar on the edge of a wheat field with out seeing much all evening. then as the sun disappeared over the horizon this one skylined with 3 does about 150 yards out. I backed down the hill and came back up rihgt on the edge of the field but by then he had settled in a saddle and all I could see was the top 2 or 3 inches of his back. I waited what felt like forever but he turned and trotted off behind some tall grass and dissapeared. I was heart broke, folded up the bipod and just sat there on my knees when I caught movement in front of a cedar on edge of the field in front of me. All I could make out was the back half and I wasn't sure if it was the same deer I raised the rifle too watch thru the scope just in case. Then he raised his head and the antlers skylined in what was left of the sun. I let the Omega bark at the only shot I had. The sabbot went right between the eyes down the neck and into the heart. Dropped right in his tracks. If it wasn't for Mr. Lanny Mattison this one might still be out here. He let me sit in his spot for the evening hunt.
