98chevy
Hey guys Ive been a traditional blackpowder hunter my whole life. Ive used my great grandaddys hawkins black powder that has been passed down to me. Ive killed deer with it and its alot of fun but I want something new. So heers what I looked at to day. T/C .50cal prohunter encore. With the nikon muzzloader scope. These things are expensive is it worth it?? How far can these thing really shoot. Are they eaiser to clean then my hawkens? I really want it but wondering if these cheaper ones are as good.
mike
well i will tell you what i have discovered, personally, some others will disagree. the pro hunter is a good gun from what i have heard and i handled a few of them too, but you pay alot for it. i think there are just as good of MLs out there for less coin. if you spend enough time tryin different loads with your gun you can reach out to 250 yds if you feel comfortable with that. and yes, they will be alot easier to clean than an old tim ML will be. i went with a tradions pursuit xlt pursuit extreme. i love it so far but havent got alot of time to shoot it. got it setup with the nikkon omega scope for just under what a bare pro hunter would cost and i can shoot just as far, just as accurate as a pro hunter:D
wtnhunt
How far can these thing really shoot. Kind of depends on you and how comfortable you are with your equipment. Have a TC black diamond here, and it has been a good accurate gun. I use 240 grain tc xtp mags with it and they do the job and dont cost all that much. Really if you dont plan on shooting over 150 yards with it, I would not bother to get the drop compensating scope. With the right load you can have a gun sighted an inch and a half high at 100 and still be well in the vitals at 150 holding dead on. bigmoss
They are worth every single penny, if you think you might only use the gun for ML and never rifle then you might want to look at the Triumph. Both are two of the best guns on the market.

tped
I have an Encore and love the gun - accurate and a pleasure to hunt with. They have really gotten pricey though since the Prohunter came out. I also bought the Omega with thumbhole stock and absolutely love this one. Love the feel and thing flat out shoots 1" or less @ 100 all conditions. I have also looked at the new Triumph and that looks like a winner also. For my money if you are only looking for a muzzleloader - leave the Prohunter there - buy an Omega or Triumph for almost half the money and invest in finding the right load for the gun. Mine loves 120 grains triple 7 behind the Barnes 250 grain expander - about 2250fps with the Omega.
