Check your states regs, they should specify minimum requirements. Think a vest and cap fullfill 500 sq inch requirements while a vest alone is somewhere in the neighborhood of 432 sq inch.

A cap will meet the requirements...I was thinking more along the lines of which would be "less" visible to deer. With a hat you have your head movement...and a vest is less movement(in theory) but more surface orange....am i making sense?

Has any one else had to wear orange while bowhunting...if so how did it work out?

When required i'll wear just a hat this saturday I have never had a problem taking a deer while wearing orange and using my bow. Just remember to keep yourself in check and no quick head movements, Use your eyes . Since i hunt on public land that is bow only, and am pretty far from any neighboring farms. You can bet i'll be out saturday , weather is turning a little colder now.

I've had to during IL's youth season. We were required to wear a hat and a vest because the youth season was firearm. I have not had deer spot me unless I move a lot. During firearm season, everyone is required to wear orange, and I firearm hunt as well. I've had deer spot me, but I think it was just because I was moving, not because of the orange.
