Bittersweet end to a great Archery Season. (pic)

My 2007 Wisconsin Archery season was one I will not forget for a long time. I honestly have never bowhunted as hard as I have this year. With the Season starting Sept. 15th this year and ending this morning, I have spent more than 40 days in a tree this season. I had scouted hard, and have seen numerous great bucks, and have even taken pictures of some of them. I have shot 4 doe and this morning I killed a buck which I had thought was a different buck than it ended up being. I guess I'm not really sure what happened. I was sitting in my favorite stand this morning holding on to my seat, wondering if I was the only one in WI to be foolish enough to be sitting 22 feet up with winds out of the Northwest at 25-35 mph and gust over 40mph! Are all Bowhunters this nuts I wondered? Finally after days of trying to kill a really nice buck I watch this badboy (different buck) chasing a doe at what seemed like 100mph 30 yards straight behind me! My heart started pounding as they flew through the woods behind me, I reached for my bow and watched as they left together. (this was almost two hours after I got in my stand and the first time I was brave enough to stand up with all the wind! LOL) Anyways, about 25 minutes later I see this big doe out in the grass with no buck around her, where did he go I thought to myself. All of a sudden I see him coming from about 45 yards and he's coming fast! I grabbed the bow from the hanger and drew back. Six yards away, and THWACK!! I was so pumped, I whacked the big 8 pointer which was one of the few that I had hoped and prayed I would get a chance at! I waited the 30 minutes before getting out of my tree, remembering every special moment I got to spend in the woods this year, and thanking the Lord for a great buck! After a short tracking job, I found the buck I had shot. Definitely not the big 8 pointer I thought I had shot. Not a bad buck by any means, just not the one I thought he was. So yeah, I'm a bit disappointed but, I had a great season and I have plenty to be thankful for. Here's my 8 pointer that I shot this morning. DSC00623.jpg

Congrats Bud. Yes Randy has put in alot of time in this year. He helped me photograph the 12 pointer i shot in early october. Thanks again for that Randy on some nice pictures you took. He also took some photos of another one of his friends deer. Both were posted on the site. Its good to have great friends like this that also enjoy in captureing the memories of friends hunts and deer. I have been to Randy's land and they manage their property well for big deer. Believe me there are some big ones there. Last years kill would prove that. Congratulations on a nice deer Randy. Kuehner:):):):)

Congrats on a great buck and an unforgetable season. I had a season like that last year. Took 3 with the bow (1 being my biggest buck to date) and 6 during the gun season. I think I'm paying for it this year LOL. My luck has not been near as good but still putting in the time. The only thing that is for sure about bowhunting is "You can't get one sitting in the house." I've put in just over 30 days so far, I just keep telling myself tonight might be the night. Again congrats on a great season and all the help you have given your friends.
