So I went hunting tonight. Weather said wind from south. So I drive all the way up this field, only to get out, see some fancy white pick-up driving on the far side of the field and the wind coming from the east. So I go to a different stand, the stand I've gotten a deer from with bow every year, except this year so far. I get there....it's snowy/rainy. About 4:30ish a deer comes directly from my right...a forkhorn with one antler completely broken off....he has his nose to the ground and walks right below and behind me...8 yards max.:D No does come...it's getting dark so I climb down. I have to cross the small swamp...an old beaver dam, and there is a big old pipe in the crrek for drainage. I know it's going to be slippery. As if my right hip isn't already sore for some reason today, but I get to the pipe, stop, know it's slippery, lift up my foot and BOOM! My foot slips out, I go down on my butt, my bow in my left hand, I lift it up so I don't hurt it but the jolt sends the bottom cam on my bow onto the pipe! I get up...to see on the very bottom of my bottom cam and scratch/smooshed part near the grove the string rides in. AARRRGGHHH! I get to the car and get home...luckily though it's on the outside of the grove, not the inside where the smooshed edge could cut the string, close call, but I'm still ticked because now my bow has a "flaw":(. It's fine though, drew my bow back, no creaks or anything...string felt like it drew smooth. I just hope when I do decide to sell my bow, years down the road, it doesn't effect the sale of it too much. Stupid stupid pipe!
