Eric
Hello, I hammered a doe with the Hoyt tonight. Problem is I hit her up front I think b/c arrow crest wrap is showing sticking out of her. I think I hit her shoulder. I watched her run about 100 yds and then lost her. I found no blood on the bean stubble where shot took place. Do you think she is dead or is she just going to have a lame leg. If you think she is dead do you think I will be able to find her. I am going to go back and look in the morning when I have more light. Its pretty bad when you finally get a shot at one and you lose you arrow and the deer. Thanks
Guest LIVEWIRE
SLOW DOWN ! take your time go slow you more than likely got her but go slow and look close for blood get back in your stand and mark the spotwhere you shot her . also remember the last place you seen her .she will stop in about 100-125 yrds. out if you don't push her if you got down and looked around she will be a little futher away look in the direction she headed and think about if you were her where and how would you hide so i couldn't find you! Eric
Thanks for advice Rob. I'm sorry I just got caught up in the moment I guess. I got down and looked where I shot her after about 15 min. then it was dark. I went to a friends and got him. We waited a good hr. and went out and looked the best we could where I had last seen her. I made a good spot on where she held up for awhile and maybe I will find some blood there. I just ran out of daylight.
dartonman
That doe is dead....you will find her in the morning...a deer will run open cover (bean field) then to security...treeline with brush.....look at the ground, follow the deer prints that you feel are hers, she will be digging in good with a shaft in her....she is dead, she just doesnt know it yet....take lots of pics.....you will find her if you buried one up to the crest........al

Eric
Well everyone. Went out this morning and found dark red blood where she held up and followed blodd for another 200 yds or so with a few more good pools and then at the last pool it just ended. She headed into a CRP field(different propery). Me and my buddy checked every slough on that farm and came up empty handed. We think she could have ended up going clear to another property but not sure. Looking for trace blood in 10 year is very difficult. No arrow found either. We gave it a 3 hr. effort. I am just going to keep hunting I guess. Just a coincidence when we were looking a buddy shot I really nice 11 pt. 140's I would guess, from the same property this morning and was looking for it. He found it and I got a personal look at him at his house. I can't get frustrated over a doe there are alot of deer on this property and land owner wants them dead anyways so I am calling it quits and going back to the treestand tonight!
