Squirrelhunter91
Looks like I may have to put a buck out of his misery. He was a 6pt last year that had a broken front left leg. He disappeared on us last year and was back this past summer. He disappeared again the first week of September but I saw him this morning. He picked me out when I stepped on a stick as I was stalking him. I got within 30 yards and when I broke the stick, he saw me. We then had a stand off for about 10 minutes til he walked away. I probably could've ran after him and beat him on foot and gotten a shot, but that's not how I like to kill my deer. I'm going to get out this afternoon and see if I can take him out of the population. Here's some pics of him I got on the trail cam. Notice the left front leg:

Squirrelhunter91
Haven't seen this buck since that one day. He's an extremely smart deer.
Tominator
Haven't seen this buck since that one day. He's an extremely smart deer. He's obviously capable of surviving Joe. I wouldn't consider killing him a mercy kill, but obviously, that's up to you. Good luck.
wtnhunt
Have seen deer with just a portion of a front leg getting along here just fine. If he is evading you, he may make it, although I agree with Al that he does look a bit on the undernourished side.

Good luck. Heck, I think it's possible that he's dead already, or lying down somewhere dieing. He's a rack of bones in that picture, so I don't imagine he'll survive. arrow32
Joe I think think he might be a gonner bud. Like they said he looks like a rack of bones in that picture and looks pretty bad.
JimPic
I'd let nature take her own course. You said he was a 6pt last year with a broken leg and yet he made it thru a NY winter.Who's to decide if he won't make it thru another? If he's the buck you decide you want to tag--fine.Be proud of it,but to kill a deer because you deem it needs to be killed because if a broken leg(which obviously has healed since last year)doesn't sit good.Apparently,he knows how to survive.JMO
Hardwood_HD
he doesnt look good at all, especially for a two and a half yr old
Missilelock
Those pics were taken in the velvet, & from the size of his horns, if he is 2-1/2 probably late spring. he may be fat as a pig now......it wouldnt be uncommon for him to be run down after surviving a winter. zippyswamp
It's your call man, but I had a doe that lived four years that I know of with a broken knee. The first year that I saw her I set out to do her in. And after four years I did get the job done. And man was I a happy camper, it was like hunting a booner and finally getting lucky enough to hearvest the old girl. She was a 6 1/2 year old, and had two healthy fawns every year that I hunted her. When she walked it looked like she was going to fall with every step, but when she took off on a run, she ran as fast as the other deer. But if it was me, I would try to get him, think of all the trouble he has getting up and down from his bed, and they almost always bed with their feet under them, and it sure don't look like it bends very good. But it's your call, and good luck all the same.
