natethebowhunter
He's not a huge buck but he is definately big enough for me. i shot him about 9:37 this morning. heres is how the morning went. well, i went to sleep last night thinking the rut would bein full swing and the deer would be running around because of the new moon. i got to my stand 45 b4 first light. i didnt see a deer until probably 2 hours later. then i had a button buck and what looked like a small doe come right under me. once they left i had another button buck come from the oppostie direction and hang out for about 20 mins. then there was a time of silence when nothing was moving so i hit the rattling horns. sure enough a small fork buck came running in. but he ran back out as fast as he came in. i looked at my phone and it was just after 9:30 and i was about ready to leave. i decided to try rattling one more time. i did a 30 sec session and started to pack me stuff up. then a buck came running down the hill 120 yards away and i grtabbed my bow just hoping he would come my way. i couldn't tell how big he was but he had a huge body. sure enough he ran all the way down the hill and stopped at about 25 yards. i drew back but he was behind some branches. when he started to move again he went on an almost full sprint and i made the worst grunt imitation ever but he stopped. i pulled the trigger on my realease and "thwack" drilled him right in the sweet spot. the shot was perfect. the weird part is that the deer had an entry and exit hole, but the arrow was broken in half and the fletching didnt have any blood on it. neither halves were stuck in him either, they both fell out when he was runnning away i double lunged him and went through the top part of his heart. he didnt even go 50 yards. it was a 22 yard shot and it was my first buck ever. better yet it was with a bow. he only has a 9 inch spread but long main beams and some mass. he also doesnt have any brow tines or he would have been an 8. anyways it was a good deer to get out of the herd.here are some pics. what a fantastic hunt :):):):):):):):D:D

Matchthedeerslayer
Way to go Nate on the first buck. At least it was bigger than that half rack we saw last nite at the game farm. Your buck would have ben a B&C compared to the half rack.LOL!!!!!!!
