woodsman2230
Well my archery season ended yesterday with nothing to show for it. I missed two weeks of it because I seperated my shoulder and it happened to be the best part of the season at that. I had a nice 8pt walk by about 60 yards yesterday (got it on film) and saw and heard three bucks total chasing some does. This will be the 6th season in a row I havent shot a buck with a rifle, bow, or muzzleloader. Im already counting the rifle season as a bust because I dont even know if I can hunt the property that my dad and I have been hunting for close to 20 years. And either way the bucks get shot back there before they get to me anyways. And as far as late season archery goes, my luck isint that good. So I guess Im going to have to wait until next year to get a buck. Ohh well what can ya do? Thanks for reading and I apologize for this post I just needed to let out some frustration. jbeck
Hang in there bud, It really isn't that important to put one on the ground. Just being in the chase is the fun part. Look at all the work you saved yourself. Keep at them though, I'm looking forward to taking the rifle this year, it's been 4 years since I hunted with a gun, and that was in Montana. I enjoyed every minute out in the woods. Ya Im not really worried about not shooting a deer its just that it gets a little frustrating at times, thats all. At least this year in rifle season I can start looking for new places to put a stand instead of hunting out of the same old ones like I have in the years past. Who knows, maybe I will find a honey hole that will produce for many years. Best of luck to anyone hunting still.
LifeNRA
I would just quit if I were you. Remember there are NO DEER in PA. You will be wasting your time, right? Don't listen to this BS! There are deer in PA! Yes the herd is smaller. Personally, I would not give up just yet! Hunt state land or Game lands! Drive around and look for another piece of land, you have about three weeks before the rifle opener! Don't give up!
The Kid
for me its not about putting deer in the freezer, i don't even care if i get a big buck, for me its like everything that leads up to the shot, practice, scouting, practice, making a plan and and executing it, practice, getting bucks close whether there big or not, and more practice. I just like being out in the woods peroid!!!

wtnhunt
Rifle season here seems to turn up more deer some years, and others they seem to go completely nocturnal. Think I would hang in there if I were you. At least you are seeing deer.
OhioMatt
I wouldn't give up just yet. Hang in there ya never know what might wonder under your tree. It only takes one remember? i read this book on deer hunting not to long ago and they had an equation for success. Confidence+Concentration x Confidence = Success... Good luck to you hope you dont call it quits just yet.
wildthing
I've had a rough one too...I also separate my shoulder before the season, but it still hurts. Between EHD, dogs in woods chasing deer, and a stolen treestand...so far I have not been blessed. Hopefully gun season will turn that around a little. I personally think archery should have been extended one more week. I am still seeing deer chasing and rutting.
Texan_Til_I_Die
I haven't shot anything but does and a couple of cull bucks (old, crippled, broken off antlers, etc) for 7 or 8 years, but I'm still having a blast. And who knows, maybe I'll see one that I like over the Thanksgiving weekend!
arrow32
You'll nail em nest year. So far I have yet to nail one. Missed one with my bow and gun season is in right now. Will hopefully get one with my rifle then be back out bowhunting to fill two tags.
BearClaw
Don't give up, it ain't over till the last second of the last day! All it takes is one snap of a twig and the hunt is still on! I watched two yearling bucks fighting with their heads and pushing and shoving each other. What a show! It made the day worthwhile! As someone said above, it's the practice, the planning, the anticipation and just being in the woods seeing things you'll never see in your living room! Let us know what happens but please don't give up! It's in your blood!
