natethebowhunter
During the deer shotgun season around here all the deer in the area are very highly pressured. there are hunters everywhere. so i was wondering where all of the deer go when they get pressured? in the swamp(even though there are a few hunters in there) or just in thick hardwoods???i just cant figure it out. Randy
Think of somewhere that never get's hunted. Maybe a fenceline, or a small grassy area in an open field. They usually don't go far but from past seasons they get pretty smart. Where would YOU go to avoid hunters? That's where they go.

Even in certain areas where a safety zone exists! Thats when you get permission from the land owner and go in with your bow!
natethebowhunter
just found out that there are about 50 acres of swamp/woods that doesnt ever get hunted and it was just sold on some deal that allows the old owner to hunt there but he doesnt ever come in to hunt it. the new owner doesnt hunt....i know that is where those stupid(actually smart) deer go.:(:(:(:(:( hopefully one will go past my stand to get there

Think they tend to go nocturnal too, and sometimes do not move completely out of an area.
MUDRUNNER
Yep. Think they tend to go nocturnal too, and sometimes do not move completely out of an area. This has been my experience too.I've seen deer bed down and stay there for a long time without leaving the area. They can almost completely quit moving during daylight. brad dryden
Usually they stay in the thickest and nastest part and head right to their bedding area but then again thats where I live.
wtnhunt
Sometimes this time of the year right after the rifle season opens it might just surprise you where the deer go to hide. I have seen deer bedded right beside our house during the middle of the day during our gun season. Matter of fact, somewhere I had a couple pics of some does bedded within 45 yards of my back door during the middle of our rifle season, think those were loaded on hunt101 though.
