Gator
I'm confused. How did the bullet manage to stay in the barrel if the powder didn't burn?
OJR
Bad Primer I'm confused. How did the bullet manage to stay in the barrel if the powder didn't burn? I have seen this before where the primer detonated, but the powder did not ignite and the bullet went partway down the barrel! Lucky for you that you didn't load another shell in the gun pulled the trigger! It could have been really bad!

Of course when the powder came out all over the table there was no question I knew something was wrong. But it was an easy fix.

johnf
I'm confused. How did the bullet manage to stay in the barrel if the powder didn't burn? That's interesting. The primer would have had to done something or the bullet wouldn't have come out. Maybe there was some oil or moisture in the powder or inside the casing when you loaded it. toddyboman
I'm confused. How did the bullet manage to stay in the barrel if the powder didn't burn? Something else I thought of later was.... The bullet could have been a tad to long.. So the bullet would have got stuck in the lanse of the rifle. However one would have to pull fairly hard to pull the bullet out of the case. But it could happen. I do not think this is what happened in this instance but this could happen. doubleA
I had the same thing happen to me a while back with a 17HMR. I pulled the trigger and nothing happened, ejected the case and it had been hit with the firing pin. Looked in the bore and didnt see any daylight as the bullet was stuck in the bore. I had to quit early due to not having a .17 cal cleaning rod with me. It did tap out easily when I returned home.
