dbHunterNY
That thing is a horse! 300 pounds is a freak of a deer. I've seen the lifesaver shot that's impressive, but putting backstraps on the table from a 300 pound deer is too. I hope you had help dragging and loading it. That rack has awesome character. It's very unique. Congratulations. I know what you mean about hunting on the family farm. I have memories of getting busted so bad when I first started out learning to hunt. Those are now some of my favorite spots that I always go back to. - Dan
randyoitker1
Thanks Yes, I did have help. My dad(cameraman) got it all on video also for my dvd that I am working on. Dad and I had to go home and get a rope and we pulled him out of this low area so we could get a good hold of him. Then we loaded him on my Grizzly 700 and brought him up to the house. A friend of mine had just got off work and he came over and watched me and dad cape him out and quarter him up. The fat on that old deer was so thick it was unbelievable . The back straps were the longest and thickest I have ever seen! We cut them into butterfly steaks and it is in the freezer. I gave the rest of the meat to my friend whose wife can only eat deer or elk. I want to thank everyone for the good comments. It means a lot to me coming from my fellow hunting friends.
