timberghost
After switching to the Hornady SST's a two years ago (with OK on game performance) I saw that Federal had a new tipped Barnes Expander slug out. I was always very impressed with how these slugs performed on game and was anxious to try them out. I picked up a few boxes and headed to the range this am. I ended up putting 4 rounds in a inch at 50 yards and pulled my 5th shot a little making the total group size 2 inches for 5 rounds at 50 yards. I just wanted to share my results and say that it looks like my 11-87 and Leupold 2-7 have a rekindled relationship with those wicked barnes slugs again! Good luck this year everyone and stay safe! RangerClay
Is there much of a difference in price between the two?
timberghost
Yes, there is a price difference. The Hornady SST's are usually $11.99 while the new Barnes slugs came it at $15.99 a box. After these slugs worked so well, I went back and I've got a total of 10 boxes with the same lot #. These ought to last me for quite a while!
maytom
Nothing like doing some serious patterning at the range and see what your gun likes best!! WTG!!
