jcs3344 Posted November 19, 2007 Report Share Posted November 19, 2007 If you read my other post from saturday, " North Carolina Opening day 8 pointer" you would know that i took my best deer at 945 that morning, a real nice 8 pointer... well i went out this morning hoping just to see a few deer. We about 645 this morning something white caught my eye up the power line. I got the gun up and saw that it was a nice buck holding his head up licking a branch. I tried grunting at the deer to try and get it to walk into the opening but i dont think he heard be as he was about 200 yards away... He messed around there for about 5 mins makeing a scrape and then i saw him turn to walk off.. I was thinking that i just saw what i thought was a 9 pointer at the time get away. So i picked up my rattling horns to try and see if i could get him to come back, i figured it wouldnt hurt since he was already leaving. I put the horns together for about 45 secs and then waited. About 20 secs after i stopped rattling i saw him walking down the strip into the opening. I put my horns down and got the gun up. The buck stopped at the edge and made another scrape. I picked my gun up, put the cross hairs on him and CLICK !!!! i didnt put a bullet in the camber when i climbed up !!! OOOH no , the buck heard the click, and after i had a mild heart attack i slowly got a bullet in and squeezed the trigger. He ran 15 yards and went down, this is by far my best buck and a huge deer for north carolina. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
