Guest lifer4corps Posted November 20, 2007 Report Share Posted November 20, 2007 i HAVE JUST BEEN HUNTING FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS SINCE I GOT OUT OF THE CORPS, BUT THE PAST TWO YEARS BEEN HUNTING HARD. i HAVE DONE MY SCOUTING STAYED OUT OF MY HUNTING AREA BEFORE BEGINING OF SEASON, GOT DIFFRENT STANDS FOR WIND, USE SCENT FREE CLOTHES, AND GUN OIL, GREAT CAMMO, AND JUST BOUGHT GOOD CLIMBING STAND. bUT i HAVE YET KILLEDANYTHING HECK HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING. mY DAD HUNTED ON MY STAND ONE DAY AND KILLED A 6 POINTER. mY BROTHER N LAW SHOT A 8 POINTER ABOUT 800 YARDS FROM MY STAND. i NEED SOME HELP PLEASE. i'M HUNTING IN THE WESTERN PART OF VA IN THE MOUNTAINS Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
buckee Posted November 20, 2007 Report Share Posted November 20, 2007 How many times have you hunted this stand, so far? Could just be bad timing. Do you sit still while on stand, or move around a lot? Slow head and body motions, while watching for deer are a must. They'll see you, long before you see them if your fidgety or make your movements too quickly. Have you tried a drag rag into your stand, with doe-in-estrus scent on it? As mentioned above, you have to be still, the best camo and scent control practices will not do you any good if you get spotted before you ever see your game.
