Michigan 8 pointer

Hey guys, Here is a pic of my Michigan 8 pointer that i shot on our annual hunting trip to Kalkaska County. The week started off pretty slow and continued like that most of the week. The rut is probably a week away from starting real good up there so we saw plenty of does but not many bucks. I shot this one the day before opening of gun at 12 yrds quartering away hard. My arrow went right through the spine and dropped him right in his tracks. He hit the ground and did a couple spins before he bled out internally. We had a good time and got a couple more deer, but the bucks just weren't moving. It was the first year in a few years that all 4 of us boys were able to show up along with my father, so that in its own was worth the whole trip. Hope everyone is doing good and filling there freezers.

Picture taken from my on a cold morning. I can shoot out to at least 600 yrds for gun and this deer went past my stand at 12 yrds.

Hey guys, Thanks for the comments. We go up every year for our deer camp Buckee. Wouldn't miss it for anything. I hunt a lot better places for bigger deer, but just the get togather is well worth going every year. The thing that you don't see in this pic is that the motorhome on the left side is a 34 footer. Makes deer camp a little easier. LOL. My dad bought it this year and loved being able to get it back into our camp plus the camp stove over the fire was my dad's invention this year after he seen one at Gander Mountain. He used one piece of scaffolding and on of the x braces. LOL. It worked awesome. Good luck to everyone for the rest of the season.

Yeah dyeguy. The area we go to hunt usually produces alot of spikes and 4 pointers. I have been lucky enough to take two 8 pointers in the past 2 years. Last years had a 17" spread. I try to look for the most remote areas since everyone just walks in and hunts just off the road. Dad seen a awesome 8 pointer the day before gun season at 70 yrds. Seems like that is the way it usually goes. Thanks for all the posts guys.

I think the first two pics are great. No offense to the buck but that looks like a fun place to be this time of year.

Hoosier, Yeah its nice to get a deer but the camp scene brings more memories than any deer could. Never leave the camp fire to try to get cell phone signal with snow on the ground. It's like easy picking with that little light on. LOL.
