Not to brag or anything, lol:o:p what an incredible season I've had, the Lord has really blessed me this year. Ok, the story:D

So Andy and I go out yesterday, being that the deer aren't moving till dark with all the pressure of the idiot neighbors, we do a few small one person drives on small pieces of woods. the first two spots produce nothing. We walk over to this small piece of woods near a road where we have pushed deer out of before, they just usually run in the field and I either don't shoot or I miss. Usually don't shoot at running deer because it's just a waste of slugs anyway. So we get there and the farmer puts alot of his ancient, dead farm machinery there. What I do is climb up on top of this old, very old Case 500 combine in order to have a vantage point because it's really brushy and swampy. Andy starts walking the other side. I hear the deer coming and I glance them coming towards me. I click the safety up, pull my gun up, here they come right in front of me then they stop right in front of me! For split second I couldn't find them in the scope being so close then I find her, she's quarter right towards me, so I put the crosshairs in front of her shoulder and BOOM! She drops right in her tracks about 10 yards, if that, from me. She has a little one that hangs around for a little bit then takes off finally. Andy comes over, I get down, and find a nice mature doe on the ground! You'll see in the picture the shot in the neck in front of the shoulder but it was actually an awesome shot because of her position. Went through the lungs and top of the heart!I haven't taken a big doe in a few years so it's a nice change. Anyone have an idea how old she might be?

Get this though. So we get home, we get it hanged then Andy starts skinning while I do barn chores. Next thing I know my sister yells for me, saying mom wants me now! I'm thinking great, she cut herself cooking. I go in, to find in the bathroom that Andy had been skinning, pulling the hide off and holding a resharpened knife in one hand, slipped and gave himself a nice cut just below his thumb, just stopping short of the tendon. We spent 3 hours at a hospital waiting for him to get a few stitches! Ok, 11 to be exact. Needless to say we didn't eat dinner until 11pm.
