wildthing
Fellow PA hunters...anyone else still seeing some rutting activity? On Monday, I was driving through a community of houses right outside the city of Pittsburgh after dropping a friend off from a goose hunt we did that day. It was about 9 pm and out infront of me at about 40 yards, I saw a buck cross the street. The streets are well lit in this neighborhood so I could clearly see the deer had his head down and was searching for does. As I approached the house and yard the buck was in, to my amazement, he was visually in the rutting mode, head down, mouth open, trans-like look about him...and he was trying to get into the house! He went to the back door, garage door, the towards a back porch/deck...I couldn't believe it. Definitely a strange, but cool encounter. buckbuster11
Saw a bunch of bucks still running does around last night while spotting. But, I'm seeing alot of bucks paying no attention to does also. We'll see some rutting activity for the next few weeks yet, but we are definately passed the peak. The home owner probably had a doe hanging in the garage
Guest adrenaline_junky
Ya they are definitly still rutting. It's on the down side of the peak but there are still a few receptive does running around. PA peak week this year was the last week in October. PA peak week this year was the last week in October. Last wk in Oct things were just getting heated up in my area. I'd say it didn't peak until about the last week, and the week after archery ended, again in my area.
wildthing
The home owner probably had a doe hanging in the garage There neighborhood I was cruising through is a rich, well-to-do area...the kind of area where you see both a Benz and BMW in the garage...not a dead deer.
