murphy617
i've never paid much attention to politics, i know a little from high school, but don't talk about it to much because it always seems to start arguments where i'm from. my question is... as an avid outdoorsman (conservationest), which political party is more suporting to what outdoorsman are about??? i hope this does not start any arguments!!! any info is welcomed! thanks, jared
wtnhunt
You really have to look at the individual candidates, but generally speaking, it sure seems the more conservative politicians tend to be more in favor of supporting our rights and freedoms. nativetexan
Conservatives. But really, we have supporters in nearly all of the political parties. Unfortunately, the good democrats that are on our side are being chastized because they don't nescessarily follow leadership's party lines. The NRA has a few dems they have given great ratings to, but again, to vote democrat right now gives majority rule to the hard lefties that have no sense. Guest COACH J.
Most dems hate guns and support peda.. not saying all republicans are for us but most of them are.
stevebeilgard
check out the nra web site. they rate all candidiates on their past recorn. not as democrats, not as republicans, not as independents. it's all about how they voted in the past. and it's on the schools grades system, A being the best, F being the worst. so, pick your candidate on this other good/bad attributes, then check him out on the nra standards. now, the hard fact is that most dems are anti gun, and most republicans are pro gun. but still good folks on each side are pro gun. so do some homework, and vote for an A

This guide that the NRA puts out is a good baseline. But remember.........it's only grading the politician on his/her gun rights voting record. John Murtha (D-PA) will show up on the NRA's list as an A or A+ because he's a staunch supporter of the 2nd Ammendment. On all other accounts he's a waste of space where fresh air could be. As a general rule, the Republican Party is the party of individual freedoms. The democrat party is the party of the entitlement and nanny state. Actually the Constitution Party is probably the broadest supporter of 2nd Ammendment rights. But it's currently too small to be of any significant influence on legislative outcomes. Jeramie
I am a Christian-Conservative Republican. That is where my vote will go too. I’m not saying I wouldn’t cross to vote for a Democrat but I haven’t seen one in years that I would consider a Christian Conservative. Loomis1228
I agree, everyone. I am a registered republican with very conservative beliefs on a lot of issues. But there are also times when I don't mind crossing the line as long as it's in line with my beliefs. However, most of the time if I vote for a democrat, it's a southern democrat, or what's called as a Blue Dog Democrat, that are conservative in voting. I will also say this: Liberals get more respect from me than a person who wants to just collect a social security/welfare/disability check from the government. Get a job and stop wasting tax payer money! Maybe I say that because I work at a bank in a county in Kentucky that has one of the highest number of out-of-work people in the entire state. I live in Lexington (Fayette County) but work in a neighboring county that shall remain nameless.
