Turkeygirl
So this is the first Thanksgiving morning since I started hunting that I haven't hunted because it is pouring rain. We were up at 5:30am and went back to bed, pouring rain then and is now. Suppose to change to all snow later but hasn't yet and the temps. are suppose to drop from 40 down to 20s this afternoon? Think the deer might move this evening instead of waiting until dark? We didn't hunt at all yesterday and I don't think the woods got too much pressure by the neighbors this week so I'm hoping the deer move a little better, specifically the bucks. My plan is to go sit in our one stand that is a little deeper in the woods in some hemlocks, where Andy saw the big buck and I saw that smaller one opening morning. Guest Tatonka
It's the peak of the rut......the bucks are going to be moving regardless of the weather. During the rut I've seen bucks chasing does at noon when it's been 60 degrees with a 40 mph wind. I've seen them moving in a driving snowstorm when man nor beast should have been out and about. Having said that, when your rain and/or snow tapers off and it starts to clear, deer should be moving everywhere......
Squirrelhunter91
I would hunt close to a bedding area with a food source. Deer are slaves to their stomachs. They have to move regardless. Plus it's the rut so the bucks will be making those does move and vice versa.
Turkeygirl
Thanks guys. The stand I'm planning to hunt is inbetween a corn field and deeper woods where they bed. It was theh otsput for bucks during bow and it's a good doe stand so you knows. I'm going to try to go out about 1:30 and sit until dark, get there before the neighbors go push the woods if they do. buckee
Yep, go for it Ruth. You never know what time of the day a buck will be chasing a doe. It's that magic time
